The eery US website unearths all of the skeletons in your closet |
Do you want to know what happened in your house – before you moved in?
A grisly new websites promises to find out whether a previous resident ended their life in your home.
Just in time for Halloween, the spine-tingling new site can unearth every gory detail – like a macabre property-based version of Ancestry.co.uk.
DiedinHouse.com allows curious home owners to enter their address to find out whether or not anyone has passed away inside the house.
The US-based service trawls through some 118 million public records and returns a full report on your home's past including whether a murder has been committed in the property.
According to DiedinHouse.com a death within a home – especially a violent one – can decrease the home's value by 25 per cent.
But in most US states, a death in a home, no matter how it occurred, is not considered a "Material Fact" and as a result, it is not required to be disclosed at the time of sale.

The US National Association of Realtors discloses any reported paranormal events |
However the National Association of Realtors, or NAR, claims all estate agents must disclose any stigmatising factors about the house.
The organisation defines stigmatising as either murder, suicide and other deaths, serious crime, proximity to registered sex offenders, hauntings and other paranormal activity.
Roy Condrey, the website’s founder and president, said: "Before you bought a house, would you want them to disclose that there was a murder-suicide in that house?"
Unfortunately for UK home owners, DiedinHouse.com is US-only for now.
British home owners who want to learn about their home's past should either consult previous editions of a local newspaper, talk to their neighbours or consult with an estate agent.
