A dejected Steven Gerrard leaves the field after Liverpool's loss to Chelsea in 2014 |
LIVERPOOL legend Steven Gerrard has hit out at manager Brendan Rodgers for his approach to their crunch clash with Chelsea two seasons ago.
Rodgers side were seemingly on course for their first ever Premier League title when they welcomed the Blues to Anfield in April 2014.
Liverpool were five points clear at the top of the table with three games to go but lost the match 2-1 and went on to finish two points behind eventual champions Manchester City.
Gerrard, who's fateful slip allowed Demba Ba to score the winner that ultimately put paid to their title hopes, claims he had reservations about their tactics before the game.

He appeared to point the finger of blame at Rodgers, who he says was far too confident in his approach.
"I've never been able to say this in public before but I was seriously concerned that we thought we could blow Chelsea away," Gerrard said in his new autobiography My Story.
"I sensed an over-confidence in Brendan's team talks. We played into Chelsea's hands. I feared it then and I know it now."
