FA explain why they switched support from Prince Ali to Michel Platini in FIFA race
The FA have switched their support from Prince Ali to Michel Platini
FA CHIEF executive Martin Glenn has explained why the national governing body have switched their support from Prince Ali of Jordan to Michel Platini in the race to become FIFA’s next president.

Glenn says French legend Platini’s background as UEFA president makes him the best candidate for the interests of English football to take over from Sepp Blatter.
Speaking at Soccerex in Manchester, he said: "We backed Prince Ali but it's a different world now. You've got the head of UEFA putting his hat in the ring.

“There's immense value to support the UEFA candidate. We had dinner with Michel the other night, we kind of know what his agenda is anyway.
“We think it would place English soccer well to have a guy like Michel running FIFA. We think he has huge experience in football, he talks about it in a way that makes sense and there is a reform process going on which will make sure FIFA is a very different beast.”
Platini - who was at Wembley as the FA's guest on Tuesday - has been criticised for supporting the disgraced Blatter but Glenn added: "Platini won't be the first person who has been on the road to power and has changed his policies when he gets there.”
