The Miiverse has had a major makeover and many fans are split over the changes |
Nintendo have made big changes to the platform and fans are threatening boycotts.
Nintendo has launched a redesign to the Miiverse, its social network for the Wii U, 3DS and Web Browsers.
- Screenshot album for saving your favorite screenshots into a virtual album
- Gaming Diary so that you can write your experiences as you play and keep track of your personal gaming history
- Communities section has been given a fresh look to allow posts to be categorised into an order to make them easier to view
- 30 posts or comments per day for each user
The changes were put through because Nintendo wants to bring the network back to the original purpose of talking about games.
Erika, a spokesperson for Nintendo said "some people have started using Miiverse for other things, such as long chats that are not strictly game-related.
"These posts would prevent others from enjoying their favourite communities to the fullest. In order to keep Miiverse game-centred for you, we decided to redesign Miiverse, which includes introducing the posting limitation."
Fans have objected to these changes on Nintendo's official Miiverse posts, arguing that it is restricting the community use on the platform. Many are threatening to leave the network due to this and alternative forums are being setup.
The social network originally launched in November 2012 to coincide with the Wii U release.
Commenting on the recent changes, one user wrote: "This update is only going to cause people to not use miiverse, just trying to give you a heads up Nintendo, cause your gonna lose a lot of people if you go through with this."
While another user for the makeover, commented: "I'm for the change as I'm fed up with the amount of nonsense some users post - scribbles and unimaginative stamp usage that force meaningful posts out of sight rapidly."
